About The Hot-Spot Initiative
The Hot-Spot Library Initiative S.A focuses on promoting reading for enjoyment and building language and literacy skills in children.
We create a safe learning environment for young people to discuss, discover, and do—exploring new ideas for personal development.
We value young people, believe in them, educate, motivate, and inspire them to do the same for themselves.

Safe Haven Amid Danger
Terence Crowster's Hot‑Spot Library is more than a makeshift library—it’s a lifeline for children caught in gang territory. By turning shipping containers into vibrant literacy hubs, it’s reshaping futures, offering hope, opportunity, and connection in a place too often defined by violence.
Aside from lending books (using library cards), the library offers homework help, math tutoring, mentorship, and life-skills workshops like recycling and self-defence classes.
